Get Ready for the Most Flavor-Packed Day in Springfield: MustardFest 2026 Is Almost Here
If there is one event that perfectly captures the spirit of Springfield, Ohio, it is MustardFest. What started as a quirky celebration of our hometown condiment has grown into one of the most anticipated community gatherings of the year, and the 2026 edition promises to be the biggest and boldest yet.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at National Road Commons Park. Presented by Woeber Mustard, a Springfield original since 1905, and hosted by Visit Greater Springfield in partnership with Mother Stewart’s Brewing, MustardFest is a free, family-friendly festival that brings together mustard lovers, competitive eaters, wiener dog enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates a good time.
The fun actually kicks off a day early. On Friday, September 11, Mother Stewart’s Brewing hosts the MustardFest Kick-Off Party, featuring two can’t-miss events. First, the official US Steinholding Association Qualifying Competition tests who has the arm strength to outlast Ohio’s best. With only 15 spots each for men and women, this one fills fast. Then, From Grain to Glass returns, pairing Woeber’s signature mustard flavors with Mother Stewart’s craft beers and small bites. If past years are any indication, tickets will not last long.
Saturday at National Road Commons Park is where the main action happens. The Champion City Wiener Dog Races are exactly what they sound like: adorable, low-to-the-ground dachshunds sprinting toward glory while their owners cheer them on. The champion dog earns the Hot Race Way belt, and the owner takes home a Woeber’s gift basket.
For the brave of palate, the Woeber’s Hot Mustard and Horseradish Eating Contest brings the heat. Competitors face down Jalapeno, Wasabi, Sriracha, and 10X Hot Horseradish in a battle for the Mustard Belt. Only 24 spots are available, and registration is already open.
New this year, we are introducing the Mustard Man Look-Alike Contest. Show up dressed as the iconic Woeber’s Mustard Man, and you could walk away with a brand new Blackstone grill. Go classic with the chef hat and stripes, or go all-out with the lederhosen look from this year’s official MustardFest logo. Either way, full commitment is encouraged.
Throughout the afternoon, the Woeber’s Tasting Tent and MustardFest Merch tent will be open for sampling and shopping. And this year brings something extra special: world champion eater Joey Chestnut will make a guest appearance. Grab a photo with the GOAT himself and try on his Nathan’s Hot Dog Championship belt for size. Live polka music, food trucks, and local vendors round out the experience, giving the whole event an Oktoberfest vibe that feels right at home in Springfield.
MustardFest is more than a festival. It is a celebration of a local business that has been part of our community for over a century, and a reminder that Springfield knows how to throw a party. Whether you are there for the dogs, the heat, the steins, or just a good excuse to spend a Saturday afternoon downtown, there is something for everyone.
